BREAKING: Good developments on SRS funding

by Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project (NSRAP) on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:44am

In a meeting this morning, NSRAP got a firm commitment from Dave Wilson, Minister of Health, that the government will work to eliminate the barriers and ensure that Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS) is funded in Nova Scotia. NSRAP will have further opportunity for input on how to accomplish that, and we will have further details as that progresses. But we are pleased at the commitment made this morning--not just to revisit the issue, but to ensure that SRS funding is a reality in NS.

Supporters should continue to make sure their support is known! There will be further steps from here, and we can't let up the pressure. Continuing ground level support on our side continues to be key. So it's important that supporters:

  • continue to contact the Minister & MLAs to reaffirm your support for funding of SRS.
  • contact the opposition parties and ask them to state their support for SRS funding.
  • write letters to the editor in support.

We will keep you updated with further developments.
