Halifax Pride: Featured Visual Artist Call for Submissions by May 15, 2014

Halifax, NS - Halifax Pride and the NSCAD Queer Collective are pleased to announce that they are partnering on a new initiative to highlight the work of emerging LGBTQ artists. Following a call for submissions, one artist will be selected as the 2013 Halifax Pride Featured Visual Artist.
The Featured Artist they will have their works exhibited during Halifax Pride’s QUEER ACTS Theatre Festival, will receive prominent exposure in the 2013 Halifax Pride Festival Guide, and tickets to a variety of Halifax Pride events. Other exhibition venues may also be available to the artist during the festival, depending on availability of space and the nature of the selected artist’s work.
Eligibility criteria: Artists must be residents of Nova Scotia. Emerging artists will be given priority. Visual artists of any media will be considered. Artists must self-identify as members of the LGBTQ community OR explore themes in their work which clearly impact the LGBTQ community.
Email submissions must be received by May 15, 2013. Submissions accepted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Interested parties are asked to submit the following: CV Artist bio (300 words or less). Paragraph describing the manner in which the work speaks to or addresses themes of relevance to the LGBTQ community (300 words or less). Approximately 10 images or video clips (not to exceed 3 minutes). Dimensions of any sculptural work.
Artists will be selected by a curatorial committee made up of members of the Halifax Pride Board and the NSCAD Queer Collective.
