Drag & Q history on stage in Halifax

Performer, artist and drag queen Anna Mona Pia is set to bring queer history to the stage with celebration event Life’s A Drag.

The all-ages show features live singing, dancing and stories celebrating queer art and history, and serves as an educational and immersive experience.

“To be able to take the worlds of drag and queer history and put them together on-stage has always been a dream,” said Anna Mona Pia. “To be able to put this on in front of a crowd at a venue like Neptune Theatre is even better.”

She will be joined on-stage by a cast including the legendary, award-winning Elle Noir, Call Me Mother alumni Mya Foxx, G-Spot, and Jo Mama. Gabrielle Greener and Brittney Whitaker are on-board as choreographer and vocal director, respectively.

“We have assembled a cast with the type of drag talent and class you’d come to expect, but I’m also delighted to bring some newer performers on and give them a space to reach a wider audience,” said Anna.

“To put an emphasis on BIPOC performers and those from gender-diverse backgrounds is so important, and we are so excited to show audiences what we have in-store.”

The show will be at 8 p.m. on July 23, 2023, at the Neptune Theatre. Tickets are available at www.anna-monapia.com. They are first-come, first-serve.
