Thursday July 18: Pride Flag Raising and Mayor’s Reception.

By Wayves

For many LGBTQ Haligonians, the raising of the Rainbow Flag in front of Halifax City Hall remains an important indicator of how far our community has advanced in recent years. Halifax Mayor, Mike Savage is only the second Mayor, following Peter Kelly, to issue the civic proclamation declaring Halifax Pride an official celebration of th Halifax Regional Municipality.

For once, Wayves' photographer Anita Martinez will be on the other side of the camera flashes when, as this year's Grand Marshall, she helps the Mayor and members of the Halifax Pride Committee to raise the Rainbow Flag over Grand Parade Square.

Immediately following the Proclamation and flag raising, Mayor Savage will host an indoor reception in Halifax City Hall.

The Proclamation Ceremony kicks off at 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 18. There is no admission fee and both the ceremony and the Mayor's reception are open to the public. It is a wonderful event, Wayves wouldn't miss it for the world! We hope to see you there!!

Grand Parade/ City Hall 5pm to 7pm.
