Eastern Front Theatre and Blue Munday Productions team up to produce queer Atlantic Canadian playwright Don Hannah'a award-winning play, The Cave Painter.
The Cave Painter tells the story of Dianne, an aging bohemian artist who conjures up personal stories of love and tragedy. Everyone close to her has passed away, with the exception of her only son who has embraced a life of religious fundamentalism in which she has no place. Instead she finds solace in art amid the imperfect world around her.
Starring Jenny Munday, a multi-talented treasure of Atlantic Canadian theatre, in a powerful one person show which explores love, loss, aging, art, and religion. It's about parenthood. It's about growing up in the 1960s, about innocence and the loss of innocence: funny and sad; upsetting, powerful, and ulimately comforting.
Director Kim McCaw, in his introduction to the 2012 Carol Bolt Award winning Playwrights Canada Press publication, defines Don Hannah's writing as “compelling, heartbreaking and potent with emotion and truth.”
