Struggling to Make Sense of the Sentence: Casting a Queer Eye, Part III

It's been almost a week since Andre Denny's sentencing, and I'm still grappling with the profoundly upsetting experience of that day, and what if anything this last chapter of the criminal case means to the ...

By now most everyone already knows that Mr. Denny has been sentenced to serve two years in custody, on top of the 6 years (time and 1/2) he's already served in the East Coast Forensic Hospital, with the Judge's recommendation that he fulfill his sentence in a psychiatric facility. In addition he will faces a lifetime ban on owning or operating a firearm. He must provide a DNA sample, and during the the three years of his probation he will have to supply blood and/or urine samples to prove that he is abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and following whatever pharmaceutical regime his doctors have ordered to manage his mental health.
