Portrait & Story Project: Call For Participants

View Point Gallery, with funding by The Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage is seeking LGBTTIQQ2SA individuals who would like to participate in a project entitled ‘Shout Out.’

Participants will be asked to think about their identity, their stories, and the messages they want to ‘shout out’ to the world about their life, triumphs, and struggles, in respect to their chosen identity. This ‘shout out’ will then be represented through portrait photography and text.

The resultant pieces will be displayed at ViewPoint Gallery in a month-long exhibit to take place in early 2017. A reception will be held to open the show, and an artist’s talk will be scheduled during the second week of the exhibit.

The project aims to create closer connections between ViewPoint Gallery and the LGBTTIQQ2SA community, greater awareness of LGBTTIQQ2SA issues, and a stronger understanding of the potential for photography to represent diverse communities.

The Call For Participants will be closing at the end of August, 2016. If you are interested in participating, please contact Phillip Joy at phillip.joy@msvu.ca
