- Art Gallery of Nova Scotia - free on Thursday nights, 5-9pm.
- Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - Free Admission Tuesdays 5pm-8pm
- Museum of Natural History - Free Admission Wednesdays 5pm-close
- Art Gallery of Nova Scotia - Admission by Donation Thursdays 5pm-8pm
- St Mary's Boat Club - free canoeing on the arm, 11am-7pm Saturdays and Sundays.
- Sir Sandford Fleming Park, or the Dingle, has a brand new playground.
- Emera Oval - roller skating weekdays at 11am, no fee to rent roller-skates.
- Halifax Public Gardens - story time 10:30am Tuesdays and Thursdays (thanks to Woozles!)
- Shambala Buddhist Meditation - Free Class Wednesdays 7pm
- North End Shambala Meditation - Free Class Mondays 7:30pm
- Halifax Seaport Farmers Market, Historic Farmers' Market, Halifax Forum Farmers' Market all summer long.
- Citadel Hill - free entry all summer long.
- Halifax Central Library - ton of fun, free, family programming.
- Halifax Pride - July 20th - 30th
- Jazz Festival July 12 - 18; all daytime concerts are free and if you do like the evening ticked shows grab a seat along the boardwalk where you hear it for free and skip the crowds !

- Halifax Busker Festival - August 2nd - 7th

- When Neptune Theatre starts its 2017 / 2018 season this autumn, the first staging of each show on the Tuesday is Pay What You Can!
