This is a quite generous commission paid job with the intent to generate a few hundred dollars a month with modest effort.
Wayves Magazine has been the voice of the queer community for over thirty years. Although mainstream media is now covering LGBT issues more than ever, there are still some stories that need to be told from the perspective of our communities.
To do that well, we need to pay writers; to do that, we need income.
You must:
- be absolutely 100% out, proud, and queer;
- be comfortable selling ads or article sponsorship to businesses around Atlantic Canada;
- be convinced that unfettered media is an important part of a stable democracy;
- be reasonably literate;
- have a few hours a week on average, to devote to business development;
- be OK working as a collective and making decisions cooperatively with others;
- be able to work more or less independently, touching base via some kind of online chat.
The position is somewhat more remunerative if you can do the graphic design necessary for web ads.
If you already responded to this a couple of months ago and I didn’t get back to you, my apologies. I went through a fairly chaotic time in my life and the Wayves work was not the only thing that slipped through the cracks.
If this sounds interesting to you, email daniel@wayves.ca; we’ll go for breakfast or lunch.
