LaHave River Campground 2026

Here's the first of two articles on self-declared Q-friendly campgrounds in Atlantic Canada. The next will be published in a couple of days. Wayves Magazine publishes a (at the moment quite short) list of campgrounds here, and we also publish the list of upcoming Pride Celebrations here.

Greetings from the LaHave River Campground in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia!

For those that have not yet been to our family owned and operated campground, let us introduce ourselves:  We are Kalen and Jamie Lee – two young adults that are passionate about all things camping and community! With the help of our pup Tundra, we operate LaHave River Campground.

Nearly half a decade ago, we purchased our little camp sight unseen during the pandemic. Ever since, we’ve taken great pleasure and responsibility in tending to this land, revitalizing our facilities, and furthering our community development efforts.

And wow, what a community we have here! Our small campground is made up of less than one hundred campsites, with a near even mix of seasonal and overnight campers. We hear all the time how going to LaHave feels like a flashback to the past where everyone is warm, welcoming, and focused on having genuine fun with their families.

it’s our promise that no matter what your family looks like, you will all be warmly welcomed at LaHave!

While we have those humble South Shore roots, we are also progressive in that we are one of two of Nova Scotia’s queer owned and friendly campgrounds! We fundamentally believe that camping is for everyone, and it’s our promise that no matter what your family looks like, you will all be warmly welcomed at LaHave!

Camping looks really different for everyone, and that’s why we host a mix of unserviced tenting sites, serviced campsites for tents and trailers, tiny cabins for rent, as well as rental trailers.

If you’re looking for peace and quiet along the river, we recommend coming on weekdays. For those looking to join in on events and family fun, come camping with us on the weekends. Check out our events calendar, featuring nearly 100 family friendly events this season!

We are accepting your bookings for 2026 now, with the camping season running from May 8 to October 12. Head on over to our website to book at www.lahaverivercampground.ca or give us a call at 902-644-2654 if you’d like some personalized assistance with your booking – we’re here to help!

Happy camping!

Kalen, Jamie Lee and Tundra
